In 1997, Ortega Middle School was moved to the old High School and Jeanie wanted to create a comfortable, safe environment.
Above she applies adobe to a false wall she helped install in her classroom.

The wall installed was designed to resemble the outside of a building in Mexico.
Visitors  came to the classroom just to sit and relax and students found it a comfortable place to learn.

Jeanie's classroom became a safe haven and meeting place for many students.
